Criticism of the 1984 and Animal Farm
George Orwell is a literacy criticism and writer. Besides, George Orwell’s real name is Eric Arthur Blair, and George Orwell is his nickname of him. He was born in India and grew up and educated in England. Then, George Orwell starts to work in Burma as an imperial police. During his period of office, George noticed the totalitarian attitude of England. Also, he gained much experience with totalitarianism and other political issues, such as for the Spain government, George attended the Spanish Civil War. When he came back to Spain, he faced dictator management. The management style changed. The new management style was like socialism and totalitarianism in that period. In order to pay attention to these unfair management styles of the governments, he wrote many books. 1984 and animal farm two of them. George Orwell criticizes both rightists and leftists in animal farm in an allegorical way. In addition to the animal farm, he creates a dystopia in 1984 and criticizes socialism.
Inherently, George Orwell writes the animal farm using allegory to make sarcasm. He assigned a symbol and role to each animal. For instance, the horse symbolizes the power, the pigs symbolize the knowledge. Thus, the topic becomes more comprehensible. Also, the main topic lies low in these roles and symbols. Therefore, animal farms can find public libraries and children’s bookcases. George Orwell wants to show the actual face of the leaders because the dictator leaders are making propaganda about reality. At that time, there is a famine in Soviet Russia that managing by socialism. The government takes control of everything. The government takes the soil of the people and their possession. As an example, many people died in Ukraine because of the famine. Because of the misleading of the government. However, Stalin, who is the leader of Soviet Russia, makes a lot of propaganda and execution. While the Russian people dying, the leaders and bureaucrats are getting rich in every aspect. Therefore, George Orwell pays attention to the unfavorable effects of leaders and their management style.
At the beginning of the animal farm, animals start a riot against humanity, they take control of the farm. Then, they create a couple of rules against human and animal benefits. At first, everything is getting beautiful to animals until the war between animals and humans. Animals won the war. However, the leader and management style changed like Spain’s example. Socialism was good for animals in the beginning. Then, the new leader starts to bully the other animals. He and his friends get rich while other animals work much harder than them. Also, animals can not figure out the reality by exposing the propaganda. That’s the point of the books. The leaders deceive the people and take imprison the people’s freedom.
In addition, George Orwell creates a dystopia in 1984 to introduce the enslavement notion. In 1984 thinking and questioning are forbidden. The only purpose of the people is service to the party. However, the main character Winston starts to query and think about reality. In order to escape this circle, he tries to find an escape plan. He met with a woman called Julia. They try to break this chain. Nevertheless, they were caught by the thought police. After much torture, Julia and Winston agree to the party’s orders. Likewise, in 1984 people think they are watching by big brother. Big Brother is seen as absolute power. Big brother watching you and you cannot disobey the rule of the party. Thus, the party creates an ignorant community to
themselves because ignorant people can believe anything that makes propaganda by the government. Therefore, thinking and questioning are forbidden in the ocean-continent. By creating this dystopia in 1984, George Orwell shows the absolute face of governments. For instance, Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia were controlled by dictators. People can not think liberally. They cannot question the government and its actions. If they argue and oppose the government, they punish for this. However, when people awake to the reality, they can advocate for their rights. For example, in Soviet Russia, many people gathered to riot against the government in order to demolish the fear army and lifestyle. They understand the absolute powers are them. At the end of the riot, Soviet Russia fell apart. Then, people create a new country and democratic atmosphere for themselves. Thus, this cruelty is disappeared by people. This is the effort of George Orwell. While writing animal farm and 1984, George Orwell reveals this cruelty with whole aspects and clearness.
Eventually, although the actual purpose of George Orwell is to criticize the dictators and management style in both 1984 and animal farm, he criticizes different aspects and different universes. By applying diverse methods and creating different types of the universe, the writer pays attention to the fundamental issue in many conditions. Whereas animal farm was composed using allegory, 1984 was composed of fiction and a utopic universe. Additionally, in animal farm, George Orwell criticizes both rightists and leftists. However, in 1984 the writer criticizes the socialist government and specific dictator’s governments such as Nazi Germany. Also, animal farm wrote like a fable, but 1984 is composed of fictional events. Although both animal farm and 1984 composed different techniques and universes, the fundamental purpose of these books is the negative side of misleading. Lastly, animal farm and 1984 reflect a true story. Spain, Italy, Germany, and Soviet Russia experience pain for a long time. Additionally, both books and the real story show that these governments are not giving damage to their people. Also, they give damage the whole world. Rightist, leftist, Nazi, and socialist attitudes discriminate against the people. These books explain those issues successively.
To conclude, George Orwell experiences the totalitarian and imperialist order closely. Therefore, he decides to light the way for his reader and humanity. The fact is freedom. People should know their rights. Also, they have to notice that the governments are servants to them. Thus, they can fight with authorities that cannot respect their rights and freedom. This is a reawakening chance for people. 1984 and animal farm eloquently give these ideas. Thanks to these books, people can realize the fact.
